evevs reported on January 13 that,based on the Nihon Keizai Shimbun,CarExpert and other media reports,Akio Toyoda,chairman of TOYOTA Motor Corporation,announced that Toyota Motor Corporation had launched a project to develop a new type of internal combustion engine when he made a speech at the 2024 Tokyo Auto Modification Exhibition on Friday.
He said,"We will continue to produce engines because they are still a practical means of achieving carbon neutrality or net zero carbon dioxide emissions."At the same time,he also paid tribute to all those who have manufactured engines so far and said that their work to this day will never be in vain.
Mr.Toyoda also talked about the situation of his own employees:among Toyota's 5.5 million employees,many are engaged in the production of engine components,supporting japan and possessing the skills to make the future of Japan stronger."We must not lose these people."
Of course,Akio Toyoda once again mentioned the company's"multi legged walking"plan for future travel,which includes boosting hydrogen power.He revealed that Toyota drove a car using liquid hydrogen onto the Le Mans circuit last year.
When discussing his views on future carbon neutrality,Akio Toyoda insists that electric vehicles are not the"only way":as a practical means of achieving carbon neutrality,engines can still play a role.
