evevs News on January 5th:Prior to the opening of CES 2024,Samsung's official website released a press release announcing a Smart home partnership with TESLA.

Samsung Electronics announced that it has established service integration with Tesla and will showcase it at CES 2024.Samsung will connect SmartThings Energy to Tesla products such as Powerwall home batteries,solar inverters,wall connector charging solutions,and electric vehicles(EVs).

"In addition to the Tesla application,Tesla Energy users can now manage and monitor the power status of their homes through SmartThings Energy and Samsung devices,ensuring more access and connectivity,"said Chanwoo Park,Executive Vice President and Head of the IoT Development Team at Samsung Electronics'Device Platform Center."This new collaboration is an important milestone for Samsung Electronics,as it enables our solutions to be more widely applied beyond home appliances."

In addition,with the synchronization capability of SmartThings Energy and Tesla's Powerwall"Storm Watch"function,users will be better prepared for power outages.This means that in the event of extreme weather events such as typhoons or heavy snow,in addition to the Tesla app,users can also receive alerts through connected Samsung TVs and SmartThings on their phones.In addition,users can activate AI energy mode before and during power outages to extend the remaining backup energy stored in Tesla Powerwall.

EVEVS learned from the announcement that this collaborative service is currently under development and is expected to be launched in the second quarter of 2024.

In addition,Samsung announced another press release announcing a partnership with Hyundai Motor Group,where the two companies will work together on the next generation of smart homes,connecting Samsung's SmartThings with Hyundai and Kia's connected vehicles(including electric vehicles),developing"home to car"and"car to home"services,as well as comprehensive home energy management services.

It is reported that through the SmartThings platform,users will be able to perform various car related operations at home-starting the car,controlling the smart air conditioning,opening and closing windows,and checking the charging status.Users can also control household appliances such as televisions,air conditioners,and car Chargers through their cars.

Users can also operate multiple devices(including vehicles)simultaneously through SmartThings'"Good Morning Routine"and"Home Routine"programs.For example,when the morning alarm of a Samsung Galaxy smartphone rings,the curtains will automatically open,and the lights and TV will also turn on.When the user is ready to go out to work,their car will adjust itself to the ideal temperature.In addition,smartphones and TV screens will display information such as the remaining battery and driving range of electric vehicles.

In order to further strengthen the car to home service,Samsung is closely cooperating with its wholly-owned subsidiary Harman.Harman's"Ready Upgrade"is a digital cockpit package product that allows for hardware and software upgrades.Users will be able to install SmartThings functionality through Ready Upgrade,thereby better utilizing various"car to home"services.
