According to Yomiuri Shimbun in japan,TOYOTA will launch the L4 level autonomous driving service in Japan this summer,which can operate under specific conditions without the need for manual driving.

According to reports,Toyota plans to start operating from the"Next Generation Arena"(Next Generation Arena)currently under construction at Tokyo Daikyo.Initially,it will provide free services and will begin charging fees after expanding to the city center in 2025.This is expected to be the first time Japan has provided autonomous driving services on ordinary roads,and is currently being coordinated with relevant government agencies.

The vehicles providing autonomous driving services are developed based on Toyota Sienna and are equipped with sensors and AI systems to monitor the condition of the road and surrounding environment and predict hazards.Although humans do not need to intervene in driving,initially for safety reasons,vehicles will be equipped with drivers.

The free autonomous driving service will start from this summer,covering several specific locations in the station area,and vehicles will operate during the day.It is reported that the boarding and alighting points will be limited to designated areas such as parking lots for various facilities,with a focus on ensuring safety and profitability.

After this service starts charging for operation in the future,Toyota plans to cooperate with dispatch service companies,where users can call cars to specific locations to provide autonomous taxi type services.
