Beijing Automobile Manufacturing Factory was founded in 1958 and is the second large-scale automobile production enterprise built in China. In 1987, it merged with Beijing Motorcycle Manufacturing Factory to form Beijing Automotive Motorcycle Joint Manufacturing Company (BAM). In 2001, it reorganized with Beijing Automotive Assembly Factory and established Beijing Automotive Manufacturing Factory Co., Ltd. (BAW) under the modern enterprise system.[-]
